The words ‘Peleka kwa Ruto’ have taken on a life of their own, leaping from a tense moment on Nairobi roads into the feeds of millions online.

What began as a heated confrontation between Kibra MP Peter Orero and CNN International correspondent Larry Madowo has evolved into a cultural phenomenon, with TikTokers, comedians, and content creators recreating, parodying, and remixing the MP’s now-viral outburst.

In the original incident, Orero, seated in a vehicle being driven recklessly on the wrong side of the road, lashed out at Madowo for recording the encounter, telling him to take the footage to President William Ruto.

The brief but fiery exchange, punctuated by the words “Peleka kabisa! Takataka!,” ignited a flurry of online reactions, turning what was a road rage moment into a digital canvas for satire, skits, and memes.

Both emerging and established creators have leveraged the viral clip to produce humorous content, extending the incident far beyond its original context while weaving in commentary on leadership, law, and digital culture. Here are five creators who have recreated the incident.

Dada Sarah

Popular Kikuyu cross-dressing content creator Dada Sarah is among the creators who have hopped on the viral trend.

She collaborated with fellow Kikuyu creator Wa Kairu to produce a video that recreates the entire Larry Madowo and MP Orero incident, but with a twist, as they substitute other leaders in the dialogue.

In the clip, Wa Kairu assumes the role of Orero’s driver, while Dada Sarah plays MP Orero.

During their exchange, Wa Kairu lashes out at the character playing Larry Madowo, instructing him to take the video to National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah. At that moment, Dada Sarah joins in, declaring that Ichung’wah is insufficient and insisting that the recording be taken instead to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Triza Njeri

Karangu Muraya’s first wife, Triza Njeri, also joined the challenge with her own clip.

In her video, she portrays Orero’s driver, with a young gentleman seated beside her as MP Orero.

The clip is an almost exact parody of the original exchange, as Triza lashes out immediately after the man behind the camera, acting as Larry, questions why she is driving on the wrong side.

She berates him for recording the incident and labels the footage “takataka,” mirroring the now-famous words of Orero’s driver.

Dr AA

In another creative take, TikTok comedian Dr AA recreated the incident, playing both Larry Madowo and Orero’s driver.

His clip captures the nuances of the original exchange, including how Larry spoke Kiswahili, as if struggling with the language.

Dr AA is also seen driving a car while responding to his own dialogue, declaring he does not care whether he is on the correct side of the road. The clip closes with the viral words “Peleka kwa Ruto,” followed by an edit of someone laughing sarcastically, adding a comedic flourish to the parody.

Bishop Adonai

Bishop Adonai likewise recreated the viral video, casting veteran Vashita actor Frank Kimani, popularly known as Wadahuhu, to play MP Orero.

In the clip, which closely mirrors the original, Bishop Adonai occupies the driver’s seat, maintaining a stern expression as a third actor, playing Larry, questions his use of the wrong side of the road.

As he begins delivering harsh words, Wadahuhu joins in, supporting the verbal lashing of the character playing Larry.

Wadahuhu’s performance is strikingly similar to the real MP, from the stern expression he holds to his fixation while seated in the passenger seat, making the parody remarkably convincing.

Kijana Mumo

Comedian Kijana Mumo was also not left behind in the challenge, offering a unique take on the viral incident. Unlike the others, he did not perform inside a car but opted for a bodaboda setup, with the pillion passenger portraying MP Orero and himself as the driver.

While navigating a dusty road, a third person questions them about driving on the wrong side.

Mumo immediately responds with a stern expression, demanding to know who the person is before berating them for the observation. The altercation unfolds similarly to the original Larry Madowo exchange, with the pillion passenger joining in and instructing the person recording to take the video to President William Ruto.
