Kenya was placed on the world map after winning four gold medals at the Paris Olympics Games, which are set to end today, Sunday, August 11, 2024.
This comes after three athletes recorded excellent performances outpacing their competitors in the heightened contests which began on Friday, July 26, 2024.
The win helped push Kenya’s position to 17th in the medal table worldwide and first in Africa. with 11 medals; four gold medals, two silver and five bronze. Below is a list of athletes who bagged gold medals.

1. Beatrice Chebet
Chebet bagged Kenya’s first and second gold medals after winning the 5000m and 10,000m races.
She clocked a winning time of 14.28.56 and 30.43.25 in the 5000m and 10,000m races, respectively.
With the wins, Chebet became the first athlete to win two individual gold medals at the Olympics.
2. Emmanuel Wanyonyi
Wanyonyi clinched Kenya’s third gold medal after winning the men’s 800m at the Olympics.
The 20-year-old athlete outperformed his competition, clocking in at 1:41.19.
He becomes the youngest-ever Olympic champion.
3. Faith Kipyegon
The seasoned athlete secured Kenya’s fourth gold medal after she won the 1500m final at the Olympics.
Kipyegon was declared the winner after clocking at 3:51.29.
The win counts as her third gold medal having won the 1500m race at the 2016 Rio Games and 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
