YY warns Kenyans blindly following advice from financial coaches
YY Comedian has warned people against taking financial advice from advisors who do not invest their own money.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, he said many so-called teachers of finance make money only by selling information, not by growing wealth themselves.
“Do not listen to financial advisors who do not have money. Don’t listen to people who are teaching you how to invest while the only way they are making money is by selling you that information,” he said.
According to YY Comedian, many advisors claim to know how to invest and multiply money, but in reality, they have no personal investments.

“They have zero investments, but they know how to invest, they know how to multiply money, but they do not know how to multiply,” he added.
He described such teachers as inexperienced and warned that their advice may not lead to real financial success.
Financial advice with experience
YY Comedian urged people to seek guidance from those who have a proven track record. He said listening to wealthy individuals or billionaires on financial matters is far more useful than following someone who profits only from teaching.
“Take advice from those who have a track record. If a billionaire tells you about money, finances, listen. If a rich man tells you about money, listen,” he said.

He compared taking advice from uninformed financial advisors to following a fat gym instructor who tells people to exercise while not practising it themselves.
“But if someone comes to you financially as a career, he makes money by advising you, but he is not using them to make money. It is like having a fat gym instructor,” YY Comedian explained.
He emphasised the importance of applying critical thinking when choosing who to trust with financial guidance. He warned that just because someone teaches investing, it does not mean they are capable of creating wealth.
YY Comedian said people should look for evidence of results and practical experience before taking advice seriously.
