YouTuber Kururia unveils plan to gift Murang’a households rabbits if elected governor
By Steve Ireri, February 7, 2026Kikuyu YouTuber Anthony Njonjo of the popular channel Kururia TV has announced his intention to contest for the Murang’a gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in an interview with Muhia Wa Maingi, shared on his Facebook page on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Kururia revealed that while he is firmly set on vying for the governor’s position, he has not yet settled on the political party under which he will contest.
He indicated that his decision on party affiliation will be made at a later stage as the election period draws closer.
“Yes, I am vying for the Murang’a governor seat in 2027. At the moment, I have not decided which political party I will use, but I am certain that the seat I want is governor,” he shared.
He openly acknowledged that his current support base is still small, naming only a handful of individuals whose votes he considers assured at this early stage.

However, he expressed confidence that with more than a year remaining before the polls, he will have sufficient time to engage voters across Murang’a County and expand his political support.
“I hope the people of Murang’a will vote for me. So far, the votes I can confidently count are very few: those of Mwangi, my mother, my father, Muhia wa Maingi, and my prayer partner, making a total of five votes. However, we still have more than a year before the election, and I believe I will have enough time to look for more votes,” Kururia shared.
Rabbit farming initiative
As part of his early campaign messaging, Kururia outlined several income-generating activities he says he would champion for Murang’a residents if elected.
Central to his proposal is a county-wide rabbit farming initiative, under which every household would receive a rabbit to support small-scale farming and household income.
According to Kururia, the rabbits would be sourced through suppliers with links to China, noting that he has prior experience in rabbit farming and believes the project is practical and scalable.
“Once I am elected, I plan to gift every household a rabbit. The rabbits will be sourced through suppliers linked to China, who also supply them locally,” he shared.
He argued that rabbit farming requires relatively low start-up costs while offering strong returns, making it suitable for both rural and peri-urban households.
“I have experience in rabbit farming myself, and I believe this initiative will help households generate income,” he said.
