Mugithi singer and actress Wanjiru Wa Waya has reacted with shock after her hubby, revered content creator Mbote Njogu, went ahead to get an artificial beard from a popular city barber.

In a video shared on TikTok on Friday, February 27, 2026, Wanjiru is seen forming a subtle, amused grin, her facial expression suggesting she was not entirely impressed after Mbote unveiled the newly installed beard.

She had been seated right beside Mbote throughout the entire installation session, observing as each stage of the elaborate procedure was carefully carried out on him.

The procedure also included Mbote having additional hair installed along his forehead, particularly in areas where his hairline had begun to recede.

Mbote’s take

Following the installation, Mbote also shared his reaction, explaining that mounting pressure from fans who constantly teased him about growing older without any visible trace of a beard had ultimately pushed him to seek the service.

He further noted that some fans had even gone as far as threatening to unfollow him if he failed to grow a beard.

“My fans gave me two weeks to grow beards, and that’s why I resorted to this artificial beard solution. They even said they would stop following me,” he shared candidly.

He went on to reflect on seeing other individuals with similar challenges flocking to the barbershop, admitting that he had initially assumed the videos the barber used to post online were merely staged content.

He expressed excitement that he had finally received assistance and confirmed that he intended to rock the artificial beard for close to two weeks.

“And when I used to see your videos online, I thought it was just content, but now I realise it’s real. So that means you can actually add artificial hair even to people who have none. And now I plan to keep this artificial beard for over a week,” he said.

Fast-rising creator

Mbote is among the fastest-rising Kikuyu content creators in Kenya, attracting well-paying brand deals almost every single day as his popularity continues to soar.

His content largely revolves around Mugiithi singer Wanjiru wa Waya, with whom he stages hilarious and often outrageous home scenarios that have kept their followers hooked for years.

The duo’s skits thrive on role reversals, with Mbote stepping into the role of Wanjiru’s husband while Wanjiru flips the script by portraying his wife.

This playful swapping of identities adds a unique layer of comedy and relatability, keeping fans eagerly anticipating each new video.

The pair is usually joined by a third actor, long-time collaborator and gospel singer Njoki wa Ndegwa, popularly known as Komanda, who plays their witty and sometimes mischievous househelp.

What makes their videos resonate so strongly and attract thousands of views is the recurring theme of marital infidelity.

Mbote often finds himself in comedic yet scandalous scenarios where his character is caught in the act with the househelp, creating tension and laughter in equal measure.

The skits unfold in lively, often chaotic domestic situations, with Wanjiru delivering explosive reactions every time she discovers Mbote’s antics.
