Vindee claims celebrities who once ignored him reached out after IShowSpeed deal
By Valerian Khakayi, January 15, 2026Popular Kenyan prankster Vindee has claimed that several celebrities who had previously ignored him suddenly reached out after believing he had landed a major deal with the American YouTube star Darren Jason Watkins Jr, widely known as IShowSpeed.
Speaking during an interview with Dr Ofweneke on Wednesday night, January 14, 2026, Vindee said that after seeing IshowSpeed’s African tour, he decided to create a prank about him being chosen as his manager.
According to Vindee, the prank quickly gained traction with many people, including well-known celebrities believing the story.
He noted that some of the same individuals who had earlier ignored him began reaching out, but he also ignored them.
“After nilipost, the video ilienda vibaya sana, na watu hawakubelieve. Ilepost, watu wakaanza kupost wakisema Vindee amechaguliwa. nilisema kwanza Africa, so after Speed kuenda Angola watu walianza kuuliza Vindee ako wapi? nikawaambia mimi ni wa Kenya sasa tutengeneze list,” he stated.
“Watu wakaanza kusema niwaweke kwa list, watu wa jina kubwa hadi mwenye nishawai mwomba picha alininyima akaniambia the next day mimi naenda majuu hiyo ilikuwa kama bado sijaanza kujulikana, pia yeye alikuja kusema nimweke kwa list, wengine walikuwa wanasema ako na plans lakini niliwafanyia vile wao hufanyia creators wachini.“

IShowSpeed’s manager prank
This comes after the prankster revealed that he deliberately pranked the public about his involvement in IShowSpeed’s Kenya tour.
In a video shared on his official TikTok account, Vindee explained that the entire saga was a carefully planned prank on the public, adding that the move was intended to highlight prank content as a serious and legitimate career path within the content creation industry in the country.
“I had a dream to show the nation that in this country, there are also pranksters, just like there are comedians and actors,” he said.
The prankster added that the stunt was also meant to counter claims that he scripts his pranks, adding that he wanted to demonstrate his authenticity by showcasing the difference between a scripted and a non-scripted prank
“I wanted to show you that I do not script my pranks, and so I decided to prank the entire country. I have never scripted anything before or even pulled a publicity stunt. My past content was authentic,” he added.

Making of the prank
In addition, Vindee stated that he only shared the idea with two close friends before executing it, adding that the response from Kenyans exceeded his expectations.
He further disclosed that he followed Speed’s crew to gather information about his arrival and activities, which he used to make his claims appear credible.
Nimewashandaa guys. At no point did Speed choose me for anything. Where would he even find me? He asked.
