Taking to his Instagram Stories on Friday, February 20, 2026, Mwirigi suggested that a live showdown could turn the rivalry into something positive for the culture.

“@ogaobinna Just the way you did To Majembe & Mbavu, I know you can organise a concert for Bruklyn Boyz & Toxic Lyrikali. Just an idea, Hapo kwa Mshindi sijui apewe nini but hii pia inaweza kula Sana Hii Town @nairobi_gossip_club Ulizeni Mafans maoni yao,” Tony Mwirigi wrote.

His proposal comes as tensions between the artistes have moved from social media exchanges to diss tracks and even spilt onto the streets.

How it started

The conflict began in early February 2026 when Toxic Lyrikali, who calls himself the ‘King of Kayole’, went live on Instagram in an emotional session.

During the live, he accused the Buruklyn Boyz, made up of Ajay and Mr Right, of copying his style to ride on his success.

“Sasa hawa majamaa wameanza ku mimic kila kitu nafanya (Now these guys have started mimicking everything I do),” Toxic said.

“They are just jumping on the dancehall trend because they’ve seen how I’ve built that ground. Wanakosa originality.”

Mr Right did not stay silent. He dismissed the accusations and said he cannot be boxed into one sound.

“I am a versatile artist. My creative freedom cannot be confined to one sound,” he fired back.

From Instagram to the studio

The beef quickly moved from Instagram Live to the studio booth.

On February 15, the Buruklyn Boyz released a track titled Stima. The song was full of bold lines, and many fans believed it was a warning shot aimed at Toxic.

Just 24 hours later, Toxic responded with his own track, Dumpsite. In the song, he went straight at the duo’s background. He questioned their authenticity and mocked their upbringing in Buru Buru.

“Buru Buru isn’t real Eastlands. You guys are playing at being ‘genje’ but you don’t know the real trenches,” Toxic rapped.

The exchange divided fans online, with each camp defending their favourite artiste.

Chaos in Donholm

But things took a worrying turn on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Reports emerged of a chaotic confrontation in Donholm involving supporters linked to both sides. The clash led to property damage and minor injuries. Nairobi police were called in to calm the situation and record statements from people of interest.

Although no arrests were made immediately, the incident raised fears that the rivalry was going too far.

Concerned that the violence could trigger a crackdown on Gengetone and Drill events, Toxic later released a statement calling for calm.

“Whatever happened in the streets is not something I ordered. I stand on music, let the music talk, let the numbers talk, let the people decide. End violence,” he said.

Despite the call for peace, the Buruklyn Boyz went ahead and dropped another track, Genje Sana. Toxic has already dismissed it as “stale”.
