The moment took place during an Easter weekend gathering where Charisma appeared in front of a large crowd.
Maraga, on Monday, April 6, 2026, said the gesture carried a strong message connected to leadership and justice in the country.
Charisma wore the shirt as he performed at the event, drawing attention from those present.

The shirt had Maraga’s image printed on it, which later led to a public response from the former Chief Justice. Maraga said the act was meaningful and carried a message beyond the stage.

Maraga praises message of justice and leadership
Maraga explained that the timing of the gesture during Easter made it even more significant. He said the season represents renewal and hope, and the message on the shirt aligned with those values. According to him, such actions show how different voices can contribute to national conversations.
“On Easter weekend, a time of renewal and hope, you chose to wear our message on your chest, in front of thousands,” Maraga said.

He added that the moment was important because it showed public engagement with issues of leadership and justice. Maraga noted that visibility in such events helps spread awareness across different audiences. He said Kenya is paying attention to these messages.
“That is not a small thing. Kenya is watching. Kenya is waking up,” he said.
Maraga further explained that when artists support such messages, it strengthens the call for accountability and honest leadership. He said voices from different fields help reach more people across generations. According to him, this unity is important for national change.
“And when artists of your integrity and voice stand with this movement, it tells our people that the demand for justice and honest leadership cuts across every stage, every generation,” Maraga said.
He also thanked Charisma for the gesture and encouraged him to continue using music to pass important messages. Maraga said creative expression plays a key role in shaping public thought and national dialogue.
“Asante sana, Captain Charisma. Keep making music that matters,” he said.
