Teacher Cillah reflects on end of long holiday she once praised as schools reopen
By Steve Ireri, January 2, 2026Popular educator Teacher Cillah has shared an emotional reflection as the long December holiday, which she had previously praised, comes to an end ahead of the reopening of schools for the 2026 first term.
In a video shared on her TikTok on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Cillah expressed her excitement to return to the classroom with a mix of sarcasm and heartfelt joy.
“Now parents are happy that they are bringing their kids back to us. I love my job. I love bringing the kids back. I have a calling for this job,” Cillah said.
She wondered whether parents were happy to bring their children back to school and reminded them to have completed their back-to-school shopping.
“I hope you have done the back-to-school shopping. Parents are happy because you are sending kids back to school, and all that. Do you think we are afraid? No. We love our job,” she said.
She sarcastically added that she was eager to resume teaching, saying she had been asking herself when the holiday would end so she could go back and sing with her children.
I was actually asking myself when this holiday would end so I could go back to school and do what I love. I just want to go back and sing with my children. How many days to left? Waa,” she added.
Endless holiday
Previously, in a video shared on TikTok on December 1, 2025, Cillah had praised the long holiday while taking a jab at those in other professions.
She joked about how other workers never close their jobs and contrasted their short breaks with the long holiday teachers enjoy.
“I wonder why you guys are working. So you never close your jobs? Oh, I remember, you guys are not teachers. Haha, you don’t have the calling, so you chose not to be teachers. And now I am on holiday,” she said.
Sharing the video from a leafy resort, Cillah wondered why people were still at work and joked that it was because they had chosen other jobs, lacking the calling needed to be teachers.
“And now I wonder why you are at work now. You will get a leave from the 24th before Christmas until the 26th, then you go back to work on the 27th, yet I have a whole month. I don’t know what to tell you,” she added.
