Steve Wakaniaru questions why some men are angry about his massage business

Taking to his official Instagram account on Sunday, January 4, 2026, Steve, after responding to a fan who criticised his business, questioned why his work seems to trigger anger and resentment, especially from male critics.
“Why do men get so pissed about my business, though?” he asked.
He further explained that their anger came from the fact that he was paid to do the same things they begged for.
“Inawauma juu nalipwa kufanya the same things you beg for,” Steve Wakaniaru added, suggesting that the backlash stems from jealousy and misunderstanding of his profession.
Massage business
Wakaniaru, popularly known for his brand Massage by Steve, has built a strong following online, where he regularly shares content about his work, lifestyle, and personal journey.
Steve Wakaniaru’s massage business primarily caters to women, which he says is simply a reflection of demand and client preference.
He explained that most of his bookings come from female clients who trust his professionalism and expertise and that he provides a safe and comfortable environment for them.
Wakaniaru emphasised that his services are entirely professional, and his choice to work mainly with women is not about exclusion but about meeting the needs of the clients who seek him out.
His growing popularity has also attracted debate, with some critics questioning his methods and client base.
However, Wakaniaru maintains that massage therapy is a legitimate profession and insists that he operates within clear professional boundaries.
Poisoning ordeal
On Saturday, December 27, 2025, Wakaniaru revealed that he has cut off ties with all his friends after he said he had been poisoned by someone close to him during a private celebration.
He explained that he had organised a party and invited people he trusted. The group first met at a high-end venue before relocating to another location following a disagreement with management.
Upon arriving at the second venue, Wakaniaru said he suddenly felt uneasy for reasons he could not immediately explain. Trusting his intuition, he decided to leave abruptly.
“My body was telling me to run. My intuition was speaking to me,” he said, adding that he went home and slept.
“I don’t know who to trust anymore. For my safety, I have to cut all of you off,” he said, apologising to friends who may feel hurt by his decision.
