Start your own! MP Kururia fires back at critics of Kiengei’s ministry and church
By Valerian Khakayi, February 1, 2026Member of Parliament Elijah Kururia has come to the defence of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministry (JCM) founder Bishop Ben Muthee Kiengei, urging the public to respect his ministry and stop criticising him.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook account on Sunday, February 1, 2026, Kururia said that Kiengei should be allowed to do God’s work in peace and be respected.
The vocal MP also challenged those unhappy with Kiengei’s ministry or church to start their own instead of criticising.
“Tulisema, sasa tuwache Bishop Guka wa Nairobi Muthee kiengei , afanyie mungu kazi kwa Amani na heshima. Siku hizi hachokozi watu , anahubiri injili pekee na akasema sasa yeye ni Bishop wa watu wote, mzuri na mbaya,” Kururia said.

“Anybody who feels unhappy with his ministry/church should start their own.”
He went on and said that Kiengei, who is now 40 years old, has matured and is settled, adding that the few mistakes he made in the past were due to his youth.
“The few human mistakes he was making while addressing people were caused by his young age, and man is to err. He is now 40 yrs old, mature and now settled,” he added.
Karuria to critics
The MP did not hold back in addressing Kiengei’s critics, adding humour to make his point.
“Actually, it’s better him, who was making mistakes in church, than several of you who make mistakes in bars and brothels,” he added.

Additionally, he said it was better to have someone with a religious title like a bishop making mistakes in church than people who, in his words, were from nowhere, at nowhere and heading to nowhere.
“Better him who has a religious title, Bishop, than you who is ‘from nowhere, at nowhere and heading to nowhere’,” Karuria stated.

Message to Kiengei

In addition, the vocal MP revealed that he, too, alongside several of his friends, including the Bishop, has now entered the fourth floor.
“Happy Birthday Bishop Ben…2026 is the year me and my several friends are turning 40 years old. Happy Birthday, my age-mate, My lord Bishop Guka wa Nairobi Muthee Kiengei, as you turn 40 years, today. May God add you more grace and favour,” Kururia wrote.
