Shyness and fear: Salasya opens up about his dilemma in finding 4 wives

By , March 26, 2026

It turns out that even seasoned politicians are not immune to the butterflies of romance.

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has revealed that his dream of marrying four wives might have to wait because approaching potential partners is proving harder than running for office.

In an Instagram post, Salasya shared his dilemma with his followers, admitting that while his ambitions for polygamy are high, his own shyness and busy schedule have slowed down the process.

“I will marry 4 wives lakini inafaa kwa hawa wanne nipate muwanga mmoja. Unfortunately, I don’t have one in mind ama juu nikiwa ground am so serious with work and shy at the same time to approach one 😅 😆 😄 😢 . Fear is just a disease on its own,” Salasya stated.

Unmarried and polygamous

The outspoken legislator has repeatedly said he plans to practise polygamy and eventually build a large family. He often links the idea to cultural traditions in the Wanga community.

Despite his growing popularity in politics, Salasya has remained unmarried. The youthful MP has previously admitted that his search for a life partner has not been smooth.

In earlier interviews, he revealed that a relationship he once had ended after he lost his first parliamentary bid in 2017. The breakup, he said, came at a difficult time and left him reflecting on the kind of partner he would want in future.

Since entering Parliament in 2022, Salasya has continued to speak about his desire to settle down. At one point, he even publicly asked Ida Odinga, Raila Odinga’s wife, to help him find a good wife.

The MP has previously said his ideal partner should be prayerful, supportive of his political career and comfortable living in the village where he spends much of his time serving constituents.

He has also shared his vision for family life, saying he hopes to marry up to three wives and have them live together under one roof as one family.
