Jesus Compassion Ministry has been dealt another blow with a senior pastor from within its ranks resigning after its founder, Bishop Ben Kiengei, rolled out the red carpet for President William Ruto at the church.

Pastor James Njoroge announced his exit in a statement on Thursday, March 5, 2026, revealing that his five years serving under Kiengei have come to an end.

He stated that the decision was arrived at after deep soul-searching, making it clear that his entire family will not serve in the church henceforth.

“I have been soul-searching myself, and I have seen it worthy to step down from the church. This comes as a polite notice that henceforth, I, Njoroge James, and my family will no longer serve in JCM,” he stated on Facebook on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Reflections

He thanked Kiengei for their journey over the last five years, which began at AIPCA in Gatundu and Kibia before they branched out to JCM.

“I want to take this chance to thank my Bishop, Benson Kamau. It has been 5 amazing years serving under your able leadership and guidance. We started this journey together, back in AIPCA, where we served by preaching the compassionate gospel for 2 years, that is, in Gatundu and Kibia.

Your vision and mission have always been clear to everyone; you have always served with one heart that has been led by one purpose: to spread compassion everywhere you go.

He expressed gratitude at having been entrusted with the opportunity to serve as JCM as a church administrator and a leader within the church for three years.

“I am a happy man. God expanded your corners, and you opened JCM, where I have served under your ministry for 3 years now as the church admin. Thank you for entrusting me to lead the church. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to foresee the growth and fulfilment of the JCM vision,” he added.

Storm in JCM after Kiengei hosted Ruto

He wished Kiengei well, adding that he had learnt a lot while serving under him, writing:

“I have learnt a lot from you as an individual, and I will carry those lessons with me in my next chapter. It has been an amazing 5 years of serving God in this ministry, and as I walk into the next phase of my life, may His guidance, strength, favour and mercy walk with me.”

His resignation comes days after Kiengei hosted Ruto during the third anniversary of the establishment of the ministry.

The decision to roll out the red carpet for Ruto sparked a storm with Pastor Charles Wachira of Jesus Christ Compassion Ministry (JCM) USA resigning over what he described as serious concerns regarding leadership principles and public engagements that have unsettled many believers, particularly young people.
