Rish Kamunge faces backlash from TikTokers over past deeds after urgent Ksh40K plea

Social media influencer Rish Kamunge found herself at the centre of a heated online debate after she appealed to her followers for an urgent Ksh40,000 donation, only to be reminded of past allegations of scamming and fraudulent schemes.

Speaking in a live hosted by TikToker Collins Omondi on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Rish explained that she usually participates in fundraising campaigns whenever someone is hospitalised or in need, claiming that she has never donated less than Ksh10,000 to any cause.

She expressed confidence that people would respond to her current request for help, despite acknowledging criticisms of her past.

“I usually come through whenever you guys tell me that someone is in the hospital and needs a donation. I usually join the fundraisers, and every time, I have never given anyone we were donating for anything below Ksh10,000,” Rish said.

The appeal, however, quickly attracted backlash from TikTok users who reminded her of her past fraudulent activities.

One TikToker highlighted that some people continue to suffer because of scams she was involved in, with some even selling land to raise funds after being promised jobs abroad that never materialised.

The user emphasised that the emotional and financial pain inflicted on these victims has persisted, casting doubt on Rish’s current fundraising efforts.

“Do you know some people are still crying to this day because of the scams you put them through? Some even sold land to get money after you promised them jobs abroad, and now they only cry because you scammed them,” the TikToker who was using the handle @thedon said.

In response to the criticism, Rish maintained that the past allegations were not a barrier to receiving assistance.

She expressed frustration that people were unwilling to fundraise for her because of her past, while insisting that she remained hopeful that others would sympathise and provide support.

She confidently stated that she expected to get help, regardless of the backlash.

“That is not a problem. You know, now you want to tell me you people won’t fundraise for me because of such a thing. And you are lashing at me, saying I will suffer for my deeds. But I am hopeful some other people will sympathise and help me. I am sure I will get help,” Rish said.

Other TikTok users continued to confront her, arguing that she would face consequences for her past actions.

One who was next to TikToker Collins stressed that the problems Kamunge now faces are a direct result of scamming people, including convincing them to sell land with the promise of jobs abroad.

According to the user, the emotional toll on those scammed has followed her and now manifests in challenges she encounters in her own life.

“You will suffer, and you will face many problems because of what you have put people through. The tears of those people you scammed are the ones now coming after you. The reason you are facing these problems is that you lied to people and their children to sell land because you promised to take them abroad, but you never did,” she said.

Other TikTokers who were present during the live included Rachael Otuoma, Ken M, The Don and The Evans.
