Octopizzo calls out celebrities who hide behind their brands during crisis

Musician Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has hit out at public figures watching from the sidelines and keeping silent as Kenyans continue to suffer.
In a fiery statement across his social media platforms on Monday, February 23, 2026, the rapper went all out, slamming celebrities for choosing to “look cool” by not speaking up on the state of the country at a time when things are degenerating.
According to Octopizzo, the current challenges affect everyone, including children not yet born, and those hiding behind their brands and keeping silent are contributing to the problems.
Public figures hiding behind their brands
The rapper noted that a number of celebrities are hiding behind their brands while neglecting the same Kenyans behind their success at a time of dire need when they need voices, especially those with influence, to highlight their plight.
“Public figures can’t keep hiding behind their brands while the country erodes. Bad governance touches everything & everyone, the cost of living, opportunity, dignity, and even the future of children not yet born,” he stated.

The singer, who is a fierce social justice advocate, noted that the loud silence by public figures does not mean that they are neutral, stating that their actions amount to them complying with a system that has resulted in the suffering in the first place.
Octopizzo warns celebrities of the consequences
He cautioned that remaining indifferent and choosing to look cool by not speaking up will see the next generation inherit the challenges that the present generation are facing, as the political elite are unlikely to do anything without pressure and loud voices of everyone impacted.
“Silence isn’t neutrality; it’s compliance. If we keep choosing to look “cool” instead of standing firm, our children will inherit the same battles we claim to be fighting today. Real change yields in consistency!” Octopizzo added.

He cautioned celebrities with the habit of jumping onto trending topics to gain relevance, yet keep quiet at other times, noting that they need to be consistent and firm in speaking out and not merely jump in whenever it is convenient for them.
“You don’t only find your voice when bullets fly or when protests trend, you use it every day the people need it,” he concluded.
