Obidan Dela pleads with Kenyans to help him travel and comfort Betty Bayo’s grieving mum in US
By David Nthua, December 7, 2025TikToker Obidan Dela has asked Kenyans of goodwill, or, if you like, good Samaritans, to help him travel to the US.
Through his TikTok account on Sunday, December 7, 2025, Dela has said that he is extra willing to travel to the US to comfort Joyce Mbugua, the mother of the late gospel artist Betty Bayo.
He also said that his request comes from concern over how the grieving parent has been expressing herself online following her daughter’s passing.
Dela explained that he feels the family is carrying a heavy emotional weight. He said his call for support was directed to Kenyans who may want someone to represent them abroad.

Support for travel
Dela went on to share a long appeal that has since drawn mixed reactions.
In his message, he said he believes the pain seen in recent interviews calls for calm voices around the family.
He added that the mother of the late singer appeared overwhelmed by the events of the past weeks.
He noted that some of the claims she referenced in her remarks have added to the tension.
“Betty Bayo’s mother! Guys, nawarequest mnisupport and mnitume niende uko US, niwarepresent wakenya.
” Nafeel mum wa Betty Bayo hangeweza kukuja Kenya juu ya papers. Kama mnaweza nituma niende uko, nikae na yeye for sometime.

“Uyo mama ni kama ako na huzuni ata ukiskia vile anaongea kuhusu some claims from Tash, unaskia eti alikua anapiga Betty, you can feel it.
“So naomba mnitume niende uko nikae chini na yeye, tuweze kumtuliza. But what guys we are praying for is peace na Betty Bayo aweze kurest in peace,” he said.
His comments arrived barely a day after the mother of the late gospel singer had demanded a postmortem.
She said during a livestream that clarity on what caused her daughter’s death was important for the entire family.

Family questions rising
The grieving parent also raised safety concerns about her grandchildren.
She said the children should be moved from their current home and that documents belonging to them should be handed over.
She asked their father to initiate formal processes to ensure they are relocated to a safer environment.
Her call added more urgency to conversations surrounding the late singer’s final days as investigations continue.
