Obidan Dela confirms Kenyans raised Ksh3.7M for ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy’s family during fundraiser
By Steve Ireri, April 30, 2026TikToker Obidan Dela has confirmed that Kenyans raised Ksh3.7 million during the highly publicised fundraiser held in support of the viral ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy and his family at Kajiunduthi Stadium.
Speaking in a video update on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Obidan revealed that the funds were collected during the event, which drew large crowds and widespread online participation, with contributions still continuing even after the fundraiser.
He noted that the initiative remained successful despite challenges he faced in the days leading up to the event, including the reporting and suspension of his main TikTok account, which he had been using to mobilise support.
“Hello Kenyans, I have seen many people asking how much we were able to raise for ‘Kwa Mbae’ during the fundraiser. Before I tell you, I want you to follow this new account of mine because the other one was reported just days before the fundraiser, and I want this one to grow as well,” he said.
According to Obidan, the money raised will primarily go towards supporting the medical treatment of the boy’s brother, Lewis, who is currently battling cancer. He added that the family still requires continued assistance, not only for healthcare but also to improve their living conditions.
“Despite the challenges, the fundraiser was successful. We were able to raise Ksh3.7 million, and people are still sending in contributions. That money will be used for Kwa Mbae’s brother Lewis, who is suffering from cancer,” he stated.

He explained that plans are underway to help the family secure better housing, including access to electricity and improved amenities, as part of a broader effort to uplift their situation.
Obidan also confirmed that the funds collected were handed over to the parents, urging them to manage the money responsibly and ensure it is used for its intended purpose, particularly in covering medical expenses.
“We have left the money with the parents to manage it, and I urge them to use it well for treatment costs. We are hoping for the best,” he shared.
At the same time, he encouraged Kenyans who were still willing to support the family to continue sending their contributions, emphasising that every bit of help would go a long way in improving their lives.
“The family still needs more support, including help with electricity, a better house, and even a gate. So if you still want to contribute, you can still send in your support,” he said.
He went on to thank all those who took part in the initiative, including individuals who attended the event physically at the stadium, as well as those who contributed online from different locations.
“I also want to thank Kenyans who showed up, those who sacrificed what they had, those who attended at Kajiunduthi Stadium, and those who sent money from wherever they were. May God bless you all,” Obidan said.
