Nviiri explains why he prefers real-life connection to online fame

Speaking during a media interview on Friday, December 19, 2025, Nviiri revealed that his decision to go offline was intentional and deeply personal, driven by a desire to reconnect with people, culture and the creative process without constant digital noise.
Nviiri explained that while social media has become central to modern music promotion, it can also disconnect artists from the very moments that inspire their art.
He noted that being present, fully experiencing life without always recording or posting, has helped him rediscover his purpose as a storyteller.
According to the singer, living offline has allowed him to listen more, observe more and engage meaningfully with people around him, something he feels is often lost in the rush for online relevance.
“I chose to be present. I wanted to live the moment instead of always being online and recording everything,” Nviiri said.
Community over clout
The Overdose hitmaker emphasised that his music has always been rooted in community. Raised in Kayole, Nviiri said staying connected to his roots remains a priority, even as his career grows. He cited initiatives such as community-based performances and neighbourhood gatherings as key to keeping his creativity grounded.
Nviiri also spoke about organising events that bring together music, dance and sport, noting that these spaces allow genuine interaction and shared experiences, something social media cannot replicate.
“When you’re offline, you connect more with people. That’s where real stories come from, and that’s what inspires my music,” he explained.
Reinventing, not disappearing
Addressing speculation about his absence online, Nviiri was clear that he never left the music scene. Instead, he described the phase as a reinvention rather than a comeback.
He explained that his work never stopped; it simply moved closer to the people who matter most to him.
The singer added that his latest projects reflect African identity, culture, and live musical expression, with a strong emphasis on love, belonging, and authenticity.
Nviiri said his storytelling remains unchanged, even as his approach evolves. He believes that staying offline has helped him protect his creativity and mental space, allowing him to make music that speaks honestly to the human experience.
“Our culture, our sound and our people ground me. That’s what I always want my music to represent,” he said.
