Nilikuta reverend amefura: Gachagua reveals wife’s reaction to him dancing with women at Wamumbi’s wedding
By Valerian Khakayi, August 17, 2026Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed how his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, reacted after seeing him dance with women during Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi and Murang’a Woman Representative Betty N. Maina’s wedding.
Speaking on Monday, August 17, 2026, Gachagua recalled attending Wamumbi’s wedding, where he served as the lawmaker’s father figure during the ceremony.
He said he danced with the women until late at night as he participated in the wedding celebrations, adding that when he got home, he found his wife upset after she saw photos of him dancing.
“Tulienda huko tukafanya Ruracio nikaongea kama baba yake, tulikahapo usiku mzima, nililala hapo nikicheza dance na wamama the whole night hata huyo reverend aliona mapicha nilikuta amefura nilifika saa kumi,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President said he danced with several women throughout the night, including nominated Senator Karen Nyamu.
“Nilicheza mbaka na Karen Nyamu, sasa mimi ningefanya nini walikuwa wameja pale,” he said.
Reasons for dancing
Gachagua also explained that Wamumbi made him to dance with the women at the wedding, saying the lawmaker wanted him to be seen actively participating in the celebrations as his father figure.
“Wamumbi alifanya ni dance na wamama ata karibu asubuhi ati ndio nionekane mimi ndio baba yake,” Gachagua added.
His contribution at the wedding
Additionally, the DCP leader further recalled how Wamumbi sought his assistance during the wedding preparations.
“Aliniambia nataka unipeleke tukatoe mali, nikamuuliza unataka nikusaidie? Akasema ndio, namaana gani?“he recalled.
Gachagua said Wamumbi then told him the amount he needed, prompting him to put the money in an envelope and hand it over to him.
According to Gachagua, Wamumbi also asked him to speak to President Ruto and invite him to the wedding.
“Akaniambia leta kiasi hii nikaweka kwa bahasha nikampatia akasema nataka uonge na Ruto pia akuje nikaonge na Ruto tukaenda,” he added.
Wamumbi on Gachagua’s contribution
Gachagua’s remarks come weeks after Wamumbi disclosed what the former DP, paid for at his wedding.
“Kuna pesa na kuna chakula. Riggy G alisema atatoa ya chakula, na mimi nikasema, ya kununua, msichana, nisisaidiwe. Msichana ni wangu; raisi alitoa pesa na Kindiki akanisaidia pande ingine,” Wamumbi said.
