Niko Kadi: Octopizzo tells IEBC to respond with urgency as high turnout overwhelms staff
By Charles Ouma, March 24, 2026Rapper Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo, has appealed to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to address staffing concerns noted in Kibra on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, during the ongoing voter registration exercise.
In a statement on X, Octopizzo, who was among those who turned up as part of the Niko Kadi initiative, shared that only one clerk was available to handle the overwhelming number of Kenyans who turned out to register as voters.
He pointed out that this not only slowed the process but also put unnecessary strain on the officer, with Kenyans forced to queue for much longer.

“At the Kibera registration centre, we currently have only one clerk handling overwhelming numbers. This not only slows down the process but also places unnecessary strain on the officer on duty,” he stated.
Appeal to IEBC
The rapper noted that the energy exhibited by young people needed to be reciprocated by the commission, and addressing logistical gaps noted would encourage civic participation.
He urged IEBC to respond with urgency and deploy more clerks to assist at the station, noting that access to registration must be efficient and dignified.
“The energy we’re seeing from young people showing up to register is powerful, and it deserves to be matched with proper support.@IEBCKenya to respond with urgency by deploying more clerks to this station.
“Access to registration must be efficient, dignified, and reflective of the enthusiasm on the ground. Let’s not allow logistical gaps to discourage civic participation. The momentum is here now; it’s about meeting it with the right systems in place, he added.
All through the day, social media was awash with photos of long queues as Kenyans honoured the rallying call by the Niko Kadi movement, turning out in large numbers to register as voters.
Niko Kadi movement gains traction
The initiative continues to cause waves in the country, with the organisers making it clear that they will never allow the political elite to hijack the citizen-led initiative.

Several celebrities have backed Niko Kadi both online and offline and camped at various IEBC offices in Nairobi to mobilise and encourage Kenyans to register as voters in readiness for the 2027 election.
The initiative, which is led by the youth, is a clear indication that they intend to make their voices and numbers count at the ballot.
