Nchi inauzwa, sisi tumelala: Reuben Kigame turns to music to call Kenyans to action
Reuben Kigame has turned to music in a bid to inspire Kenyans, lamenting on the worrying state of affairs in the country and urging Kenyans to kick out leaders of questionable integrity at the ballot.
Titled Amkeni Wakenya (Wake up Kenyans), Kigame gave a demo of the song on his socials on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
The artistic masterpiece addresses the current state of affairs, challenges in various sectors, corruption in government and the rise of leaders with questionable integrity to positions of authority.

In the song, Kigame expresses his view that the country is being auctioned off with Kenyans asleep, adding that a few individuals are giving the country a raw deal.
He fingers the government over projects that are riddled in scandals, noting that leadership has turned into theatrics in the hands of a few.
“Nchi inauzwa. Sisi tumelala, wakenya wanachezwa karata na wachache. Uongozi sarakasi kwa mikono ya mafala, Ukatili umezidi miradi ni wizi fiche (The country is being sold by a few, and we are asleep. Kenyans are getting a raw deal from a few, and leadership is in the hands of fools. Brutality has gotten out of hand, and projects are avenues for stealing.” Kigame sings while playing the guitar.
Singapore and promises by Ruto
Promises peddled by Ruto to make Kenya a first-world country in one generation, commonly referred to as the Singapore dream, also finds its place in the song, with Kigame noting that this comes at a time when healthcare and education face challenges.

Rallying Kenyans to kick out crooks who have found their way to leadership, Kigame says that the country has leaders of integrity who Kenyans should trust with leadership.
“Kila kuchao ni ahadi eti twalenga Singapore…Jamani itabidi tutoke usingizini. Amkeni wakenya achene kulala msichagua wakora, kuna watu wasafi, chanukeni mapema
He laments that those behind the mess fly out when they are sick, leaving Kenyans to deal with the mess in hospitals and face possible death and are very arrogant when called to account.
Kigame adds that they have also taken their children to the best schools outside the country to escape the very mess that they have created.
Kigame signals dawn of a new era
Kigame signals the dawn of a new era, singing that it is time to sweep out gluttons who found their way to power.

He prescribes the awakening of the citizenry as the key to putting the country in the right path by electing good leaders.
“Tuwacheni ufala, Kenya mpya imefika tuwafukuze walafi,” he sings.
