Mzungu Fresh puts netizens on edge with fake story of being swindled by Kenyan woman
By Ascah Mwango, January 29, 2026Digital creator Mzungu Fresh had fans on edge with a dramatic story about a whirlwind romance with a Kenyan bombshell that left him broke and stranded, unable to return to his home country.
Speaking on a local radio station on Thursday, January 29, 2026, he said the romance began in Mombasa, where he met the woman who would change his life and later his bank account.
What started as a two-month love affair soon turned into a financial adventure. He narrated that he spent on small luxuries like Uber rides and beauty treatments, but things escalated quickly.
Mzungu Fresh went on to say that as the relationship deepened, he found himself footing bigger bills. He reported paying her rent, buying furniture for her home, and even supporting her family. Trips to her village introduced him to her grandmother, where he said he bought a washing machine and even goats for the family.
“I met a girl in Mombasa, fell in love, paid all her bills, and now I don’t have enough money to go back to my country,” he said.

“But you know, when you fall in love, many things change. I thought it was true love. We dated for two months. I was paying for her lashes, Uber. It reached a point now where I started paying her rent, paying for furniture. Paying rent for her mother, she took me to the village, I met her grandmother, I bought a washing machine for them, and I bought goats for her. You know I was falling in love, so I didn’t know what I was doing.”

But the romance came at a steep cost. He said that just last week, he realised he did not have enough money to return home. He reported that the news did not sit well with his partner, who promptly ended the relationship, leaving him blocked and unable to contact her.
He said the situation might sound humorous to some, but for him, it was a serious lesson in love.
“One week ago, I realised I didn’t have enough money to go back to my country. When I told her that, she said she didn’t want to be with me anymore because I was a broke mzungu. She blocked me everywhere, and I can’t reach her. I can’t go home. I know you think it’s a funny story for you, but I was falling in love,” he lamented.
However, Mzungu Fresh later revealed that the entire story was just a prank. There were no big bills, no goats, and no heartbreak. He had made it all up to see how fans would react.
In broader context, authorities have reported cases of romance and online dating scams, which target both locals and foreigners, are a growing concern worldwide, including in Kenya. Many foreigners have been drawn into relationships or affairs, only to later share online how they were defrauded.
