Murugi Munyi’s honest take on marriage challenges expectations of love

By , April 27, 2026

Murugi Munyi has shared a direct take on marriage, saying it is not always about balance or comfort but about understanding and growth.

She explained that some lessons she has learned continue to guide her daily. She said marriage has challenged how she once viewed love and partnership.

She explained that one of the biggest lessons she learned is that emotions do not always have to be resolved immediately. She said couples sometimes need space instead of forcing peace. She added that this has helped her handle conflict in a more realistic way.

“That it’s okay to go to bed angry,” Murugi Munyi said on Monday, April 27, 2026.

She also explained that marriage taught her to look beyond herself and consider her partner’s needs. She said relationships are not centred on one person alone. She added that understanding this has helped her grow and adjust her expectations over time.

“That my needs aren’t the only needs and sometimes not even the most important needs,” Murugi Munyi said.

Realities shaping her view on love

She said another lesson she has learned is about understanding her partner as a person. She explained that this has helped her approach marriage with more patience and respect. She added that seeing things from another point of view has made a difference in how she relates in the relationship.

“That men are people too,” Murugi Munyi said.

She also explained that fairness in marriage is not always equal as many people expect. She said balance shifts depending on situations and responsibilities. She added that accepting this truth has helped her avoid unrealistic pressure in her relationship.

“That nothing in life is ever 50:50,” Murugi Munyi said.

In January 2026, she also shared how her relationship with her husband began. She explained that they met while working in the same office in the corporate world. She said their desks were directly opposite each other, which made it easy for them to connect over time.

“At work. He was my colleague when we both worked in corporate; our desks were literally directly opposite each other. It was only a matter of time, really,” Murugi Munyi explained.
