Content creator Murugi Munyi has said that being broke in Nairobi is a mindset and that money is everywhere if people know how to look for it.

The content creator shared her experience of finding opportunities in the streets and turning small investments into profits. She said her approach to money comes from a love for wealth and a desire to live well.

“At some point, I went back to sewing. I would buy a denim jacket in Gikosh for 30 bob, wash it, add a bit of anka, and sell it for Ksh1500 or Ksh2000,” Murugi said on Tuesday, February 3, in a podcast.

She explained that the streets taught her how to spot opportunities and turn small amounts of money into significant income.

She added that this experience shaped her mindset and view of money.

“I have been in the streets. That is why sometimes when somebody is broke in Nairobi, I am like, is it that you don’t want money? Like, you can literally find money anywhere,” she said. Murugi stressed that success often comes down to mindset and willingness to work.

Murugi said that even cheap goods could be resold for profit.

“You go to Gikosh, you can get the cheapest things and resell. I think it is a mindset,” she said.

She added that her early experiences helped her build confidence and a practical understanding of business.

She explained that her love for money and desire to live well motivated her.

“Maybe I just had the mindset because for me, I love money, and I want to have a lot of money. I want to live nicely, I want to live well,” she said.

Murugi highlighted that ambition and determination are key to achieving financial growth.

Murugi also shared that after some time in employment, she quit her job in 2020 and looked for new ways to earn. She said boredom led her to start selling alcohol, which became another avenue for generating income.

She explained that exploring small business opportunities can help anyone improve their financial situation if they have the right mindset.
