Mugithi maestro Mike Rua has announced the untimely passing of his son, Muiruri.

In an emotional post shared on Facebook on Saturday, March 14, 2026, the singer and one-man guitarist expressed how heartbroken he was over his son’s death and offered a moving prayer to God.

He described the day of his son’s passing as his darkest and wished for Muiruri to find eternal rest.

“My darkest days. Rest in peace, my son, Muiruri,” Mike wrote.

In a separate post, Mike shared a photo of Muiruri during his prime and prayed to God to give the family strength to cope with the devastating loss.

He also expressed hope that his son would find peace in eternity.

“God, please give us the strength. Fly in peace, my son Muiruri,” Mike wrote.

Burial plans

Further, Mike shared a WhatsApp group link for those who wished to follow up on the burial plans of his son or contribute toward giving him a dignified farewell.

In the group, the admins, including a lady named Salome, expressed sorrow over the tragedy and confirmed that the revered Mugithi singer had truly lost his son.

Salome also revealed that the first burial meeting would be held at Blue Springs Hotel along Thika Road on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

“Due to the sudden death of Mike Rua’s son, Muiruri, we will begin our meeting tomorrow from 6 pm at Blue Springs Hotel, Thika Road,” Salome wrote.

She urged everyone in the group to attend, noting that crucial details regarding Muiruri’s passing would be shared during the meeting.

Salome also stated that the burial would take place next week, beginning Monday, March 16, 2026, but emphasised that the exact date and venue would be communicated later.

“Please make it a priority to join us for our first meeting. The burial is next week; the specific day will be announced tomorrow evening 🙏✍️✅✅✅✅,” she added.

She further encouraged Mike’s fans to continue sending support, both through prayers and contributions, noting that their assistance would help the family navigate this difficult period.
