Mosiria sounds warning after developer defies directives

Geoffrey Mosiria has confronted a developer in Eastleigh for violating construction regulations and endangering the lives of those living in adjacent buildings.
The Nairobi County Chief Officer visited the construction site, where he found the site manager and assessed the damage caused by the developer and witnessed the risk of falling debris first-hand.
“While in Eastleigh, I received a complaint from a plot owner alleging that a developer on the adjacent property had been violating construction regulations. The complainant reported that debris from the ongoing construction site was falling into his compound, causing damage to his roof and posing a serious safety risk to occupants and passersby,” he stated on X on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

He also established that despite being served with a notice by the county government to stop construction, after flouting construction regulations.
Resuming construction without approval
He revealed that work at the site was halted by the county government when the building that was approved for eight floors already had more than the approved number of floors.
Mosiria showed how occupants of the adjacent building have had to move to a different room as the roof of their house has been leaking after being damaged during the ongoing construction.
“Hizo mbao mmeona, miti zimeanguka kwa hii nyumba zimaweza umiza Watoto, zinaweza kuua ama kuleta madhara ambayo nim baya zaidi. (The timber and debris you have seen have fallen from the construction to the adjacent compound and may injure children, may kill or even result in worse tragedies), Mosiria lamented.
He noted that rogue developers who flout regulations are responsible for a number of building collapse tragedies that have been reported in the city and vowed to have the owner of the building held accountable.
Mosiria stumbles on more information
The head of customer service in Nairobi County followed up to have the site manager arrested for the relevant county government department over multiple violations and promised to follow up and ensure that justice is served.

“The developer had previously been issued with a notice to stop construction due to multiple violations, but had failed to comply and continued with the works. I escalated the matter to the relevant department for action,” he added.
