Mosiria faults politicians after woman is ambushed and robbed near Globe Roundabout

Mosiria, in a statement shared on Thursday, September 3, 2026, argued that lack of employment opportunities was contributing to some young people turning to crime, urging leaders to invest in the youth instead of using them to fill political gatherings.
“Young, jobless youths who are often used by politicians to fill crowds and show numbers are now turning to crime, stealing from city residents by force,” Mosiria said.
He further called on politicians to provide young people with opportunities rather than allegedly exploiting them for political purposes.
“Politicians, stop misusing young people. Give them jobs and opportunities instead!” he said.
Mosiria also urged young people to reject being used as political tools, warning that they could be left struggling after elections.
“To the young people: don’t allow yourselves to be used as political tools to protect elections, only to be abandoned to suffer for another five years,” he said.
He encouraged them to pursue opportunities that would allow them to contribute positively to society.
“Be instruments of true change. Demand opportunities, dignity, and a better future,” Mosiria said.
The Nairobi official also appealed to members of the public who may recognise the people captured in the footage to share information with authorities.
“If anyone knows members of this gang, please share their names and photos in the comment section so that the relevant authorities can investigate and take appropriate action,” he said.

Mosiria’s remarks come as an undated video showing a woman being ambushed and robbed near Globe Roundabout continues to circulate widely online.
The footage shows the woman walking near the busy Nairobi road before two men approach her and engage her in a struggle. The woman is heard screaming for help as the men appear to overpower her and take her belongings before fleeing the scene.
The video has sparked concern among social media users, with renewed questions about insecurity in Nairobi and the safety of pedestrians in busy areas.
However, the exact date when the incident occurred is not clear, and there is no confirmation that the individuals captured in the video are the same young people referenced by Mosiria in his statement.
