Mosiria: Behind prison walls are beautiful, respectable women ready for marriage
By Paulette Mboga, March 6, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has said many reformed women at Lang’ata Maximum Women’s Prison are ready to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.
Mosiria made the remarks after visiting the facility ahead of International Women’s Day celebrations.
In a statement shared on his official social media account on Friday, March 6, 2026, Mosiria said that he joined the team at Lang’ata Maximum Women’s Prison as they marked International Women’s Day in advance.
He said the visit allowed him to meet officers from the Kenya Prisons Service who continue to support rehabilitation within the facility.

“Today I joined the team at Lang’ata Maximum Women’s Prison as they marked International Women’s Day in advance,” Mosiria said.
“I had the privilege of meeting the dedicated officers from the Kenya Prisons Service, led by the Director and the Officer in Charge, who continue to do commendable work in rehabilitation and correctional services.”
He also said he had the opportunity to speak with several women inmates who have embraced reform and are preparing to return to society after completing their sentences.

Life after prison
Mosiria explained that many of the women at the facility have received training that equips them with practical skills. He said the programmes offered inside the prison help the inmates prepare for life outside once they complete their rehabilitation.
“I also had an opportunity to interact with women inmates who have embraced reform and are preparing to reintegrate into society,” he said.
Mosiria also pointed out that some of the women are ready to rebuild their lives after reform, noting that they deserve an opportunity to start over.
“Interestingly, while many men out here often say they cannot find women to marry, behind these walls there are beautiful, respectable, and reformed women who have been well nurtured and guided by our prison officers,” he said.

He added that many of them are ready to move forward once they complete their rehabilitation.
“Many of them are ready to rebuild their lives and could make responsible and supportive partners once they complete their rehabilitation and return to society,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria said the visit reminded him that rehabilitation efforts within correctional facilities can help individuals transform their lives.
