Mko Kadi? Mosiria reacts as youth attempts to access State House without appointment

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has reacted to an unusual but bold attempt by a group of youth to access State House without an appointment.

In a statement shared via his X account on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Mosiria narrated how the young men, who call themselves Waza Group, travelled on foot from Nakuru’s Kabarak area all the way to Nairobi with one mission to meet the President and speak on behalf of the boychild.

According to the group, the journey was not just physical but symbolic. They said they wanted their effort to reflect the struggles many young men face, often carrying heavy responsibilities with little support.

Tuko cardless for now. Sisi tulitembea kutoka Nakuru Kabarak, adi Nairobi. Tulikuwa tumeet na President, tuko na zawadi yake, jogoo wawili,” they said, explaining that they even carried two roosters as a gift for the Head of State, a gesture they described as both respectful and culturally meaningful.

However, things did not go as planned. The group said that upon arrival at the State House, they were informed that the President was away on a tour and could not meet with them. They were then redirected to Harambee House to formally request an appointment, only to be told that the offices were closed for the day due to a public holiday.

“Tulifika kwa gate, tukaambiwa president ako ziara, tukatumwa Harambee House tutafute appointment, kufika uko, tukaambiwa ni holiday maana ilikuwa Friday. Sasa tunataka utusaidie,” they said.

The group further opened up about the core reason behind their mission, saying they feel the boychild has been neglected in recent years.

Tunataka kuongea na rais kuhusu boychild, sisi ni defenders wa boychild. The girlchild ako na sponsor, lakini boychild anateseka na majukumu mengi,” they added.

In their view, young men are silently struggling under pressure to provide, succeed, and meet societal expectations without adequate support systems. They said many are left to figure life out on their own, which has led to frustration, mental strain, and in some cases, poor life choices.

The group also revealed they have been stranded in Nairobi for three days, hoping for a breakthrough.

Tumekaa Nairobi siku 3,” they said.

Mosiria, reacting to the incident, struck a balance between humour and concern, inviting public opinion while acknowledging the youths’ effort.

“Boychild mko wapi kujeni hapa mnipe maoni yenu? Vijana mjini wanajituma sana! Sasa hawa ndugu wanataka kufika State House bila appointment. I hope we secure one for them!” he said.
