Man attempts record-breaking 106-hour bath in baked beans
By CNN, June 19, 2026A man who says he is “full of beans” is spending four days and 10 hours in a bath of them to try to beat a world record.
Colin Jones, also known as Casey, has been covered in more than 14 tins of baked beans at a pub in Norwich since 08:00 BST on Tuesday and aims to stay there until 18:00 on Saturday.
“I’m marinating. I would actually like to marinate in peace, but people keep interrupting me,” he joked.
Aside from wanting to beat the current record set 40 years ago, he has also raised more than £1,200 for The Feed Social Supermarket, where he volunteers.
The centre on Hall Road works with local food producers to provide discounted products for people affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
More than 14 tins of baked beans have been donated to fill the bathtub outside The Cottage pub in Thorpe St Andrew, where his only luxuries are a heater and 30 minutes each day for toilet breaks.
He said, “Unfortunately, we would have liked the beans to go for pig feed so they could be recycled, but that’s not feasible.
Generating a lot of money
“It does seem like we are wasting all these beans, admittedly we are, but let’s remember we are now generating a lot of money.”
Jones described being in the bath overnight as like sleeping in a fridge.
“The landlord and landlady have been providing food for me. For example, I had a beautiful jacket potato with cheese and beans,” he said.
Intending to want to “give a little bit back”, he has remained positive throughout.
He said: “It’s achievable. I’m positive, I’m focused, I’m totally committed, and, come Saturday, I’ll be stepping out of that bath.
“Before I did the challenge, I had to have a medical examination at my local medical practice, and they did things like check my heart rate, check my blood pressure and weigh me.
“I’m full of beans.”
