Majembe says he’s unaware of Alicia Kanini’s promise to reward Vurugu boxing winner

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Friday, April 10, 2026, Majembe dismissed reports that Alicia Kanini had promised a special reward to the winner. He indicated that he did not hear about the said promise before or after the fight, suggesting that the claims circulating online may not be genuine.
“People dangled a lot of things for the one who would win. About Alicia Kanini, I heard people saying she promised to give an award to the winner,” he said.
The boxer further cast doubt on the authenticity of the reports, saying he believes the claims could have been generated or exaggerated online, possibly through edited or AI-generated content.
His remarks come amid widespread social media chatter that had linked the popular content creator to the event.
“But I did not hear that myself and I am not aware of it. I even think that was AI-generated,” Majembe stated.
Majembe went on to outline what he has officially received and been promised following his win.
According to him, these are the only confirmed benefits tied to his victory.
“What I know is what I got after winning: the Ksh1.7 million, the car, and the iPhone 17 that I was promised. Alicia Kanini has not reached out to me,” he said.
On whether he would accept any form of reward from Alicia Kanini if it were to materialise, Majembe maintained a light-hearted tone, noting that it would depend on the nature of the offer.
He emphasised that his current priorities are focused on financial gains, adding that monetary rewards would be more meaningful to him at this stage.
“If she decides to gift me something, it will depend on what she wants to give. If it is money, I cannot refuse. But right now, we do not need anything else… we need money,” he stated.
