Love is in the air: Ruth Matete shares glimpse of her new romance

Taking to her official Instagram account on Sunday, March 1, 2026, Matete shared a photo of her new man, who appears to be of American descent, giving her a peck on the cheek.
However, she covered his face with a heart emoji, leaving his arm around her neck visible.
In the caption of the soft launch photo, the mother of one humorously described the dynamic of her relationship, saying that when her boyfriend forgets to pick up his phone, her sugar levels rise, a local expression reflecting the sweet tension and teasing that comes with new love.
“Alafu kuna huyu akikosa kushika simu napandwa na sukari,” Matete’s sweet message reads.
The 2012 Tusker Project Fame winner tragically lost her spouse just five months after tying the knot, but now a new love has entered her life, bringing joy and excitement after past heartbreak.
Ruth on self-love
Before the soft launch, Matete said that she had entered a self-love era, where she regularly reminded herself of her goals and celebrated her achievements without downplaying them to make others feel better.
She emphasised that once she figured out her lane.
Normalise calling yourself for a meeting once in a while and reminding yourself, the goals you set.
Then when you’re done, figure out what your lane is, and stick to it! You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone. Because in the end, those who don’t like you, won’t like you no matter what. And those who like you, won’t leave no matter what!
Additionally, she said that she would stick to it and did not need to explain herself to anyone, noting that those who disliked her would not change their minds, and those who liked her would remain supportive. She added that she had outgrown manipulation and was choosing peace as she approached 40.
“This is my “I’m doing me” era. Done downplaying my achievements to make you feel better. I know how far I have come and I’m gonna celebrate each mile stone. No matter how minute it may look in your eyes,” she added.
