‘Kwa Mbae’ boy’s father issues update after doctors unveil plans to discharge hospitalised son

The father of the popular ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy has shared a fresh update on his son Lewis’ condition after doctors indicated that he may soon be discharged from hospital.

Speaking in a video shared by Obidan Dela on Saturday, May 2, 2026, the father revealed that although Lewis has shown signs of improvement, his recovery remains gradual, particularly as he is still unable to speak.

According to him, the family has noted visible progress in his condition, offering hope after weeks of treatment.

“So Lewis, I can say he is fair, but when you look at him, he is not able to speak yet, though we can see progress,” the father said.

Content creator Obidan Dela, who has been actively involved in supporting the family, also confirmed that doctors are considering discharging Lewis based on his current state.

However, he noted that the situation remains delicate, as the family is still consulting with medical staff on whether it is safe for the young patient to leave the hospital, especially given the medical equipment still attached to him.

“We are at the hospital and I have heard that Lewis is supposed to be discharged. I am here with the father of the popular ‘Kwa Mbae’ boy, who is also Lewis’ father, and that is why we did the fundraiser to help the family since Lewis is suffering from cancer,” Obidan said.

Obidan explained that while the discharge is a positive sign, the family is exploring the possibility of extending Lewis’ stay to ensure he receives adequate care before transitioning home.

He further added that discussions are ongoing, with a clearer position expected once consultations with the hospital’s finance office and medical team are finalised.

“Doctors say he is supposed to be discharged because of how he is doing, but we are trying to see whether he can remain at the hospital a bit longer. We cannot just say he goes home because he still has tubes connected to him, so if he is discharged, it can be tricky. But we are hopeful by tomorrow. Please keep praying for Lewis, and everything will be well. For those who pledged to clear the bills, we cannot confirm that yet, but the finance office said it will help us confirm tomorrow,” Obidan added.

The update comes days after a fundraiser organised to support the family’s medical needs, as Lewis continues to battle cancer.
