Kush Tracey: Being single is not a disease or a failure

Award winning gospel musician Teresia Ndoti Wambua widely known as Kush Tracey has spoken out about the pressure single people face in society.
In an Instagram post shared on Friday, February 27, 2026, Kush said that being single is often treated as a problem or a failure.
“If you are single, you are praid for as if you have a problem,” she said.
She added that people often assume that a single person’s life becomes meaningful only after marriage.

She said this pressure can make single people feel unworthy and ashamed.
“Some people consider that your life becomes meaningful when someone puts a ring on your finger,” she said.
She added that shame often leads to desperation. Kush Tracey explained that this mindset is not biblical.
“Biblically, this is not the system,” she said.

She pointed out examples from the Bible to show that marriage is not the measure of impact or value.
“Jesus was never married. Paul never married. Yet they carried global impact and eternal legacy,” she said.
She stressed that marriage does not increase a person’s worth.
“Marriage does not upgrade your worth. Your value and identity should be in Christ,” she said.
Marriage is a gift, not an identity
Kush Tracey said a person’s identity should not depend on their marital status. She said single people should not feel behind or incomplete.
“Your identity should not be tied to whether you get married or not,” she said.

She added that marriage is a gift, but it is not the source of identity.
She explained that if marriage were an achievement, even Jesus and Paul would be considered failures.
“If marriage is an achievement, then Jesus failed, Paul failed,” she said.
She said single people should find their value in Christ rather than in societal expectations.
Kush Tracey said embracing singleness with purpose allows people to focus on impact and legacy. She encouraged single people to resist societal pressure and shame.
“Marriage is a gift, but identity comes from Christ,” she said.
She added that understanding this truth frees single people to live with confidence and purpose.
