‘Kuna kijana bado amelala’ – Kanyari challenges youth after meeting elderly woman hustling hard

By , March 5, 2026

Popular city preacher Prophet Victor Kanyari has been impressed by an elderly lady who, despite her advanced age, has been hustling hard to earn a living.

The preacher who hosted the woman at his church was impressed after learning that the lady who revealed that she is seventy years old has been preparing and selling packed mabuyu to earn a living.

The Salvation Healing Ministry founder heaped praises on the woman in a statement on Thursday, March 5, 2026, noting that anyone who needs his support must first demonstrate that they are putting in effort.

He challenged the youth to emulate the hard work demonstrated by the lady, lamenting that some were still in bed at a time when the elderly were out hustling hard to earn a living.

“Mama kama huyu anajituma kila siku, halafu kuna kijana saa hii bado amelala. Ukikuja uniambie what you can do na ama nione unajitahidi kufanya kitu, nitakusupport kabisa ili uwe a better person,” Kanyari stated.

Kanyari boosts her business

This loosely translates to: “This woman works hard daily, and yet there are some youths who are still in bed at this hour. When you come to me for support, you must tell me what you can do, or I must see the effort you are putting into what you do before I support you to become better”.

He gave the woman KSh 5,000, which she appreciated immensely, confirming that she does not interact with that kind of money regularly in her humble business.

Kanyari, who was flanked by Marion Naipei during the service, displayed the woman’s wares to the congregation, praising her effort.

She asked for financial support to boost the business, without quoting a figure of what she wanted from the preacher.

Establishing bigger business

The self-styled prophet encouraged her to look for a bigger business to do, promising to support her.

“Tafuta biashara naweza kukusupport ufanye, kubwa, wachana na mambo ya mabuyu, hiyo ni biashara tudogo. Look for a bigger business that I can support you in setting up, move away from selling mabuyu, as it is a very small business,” Kanyari added.

The preacher also revealed that the woman’s plight was first brought to his attention by members of his congregation who sought his help in supporting her.
