KRG the Don fires warning shot at 2027 Nairobi senatorial race rivals
By Valerian Khakayi, February 12, 2026Kenyan musician and entrepreneur Karagu Kimani, widely known as KRG The Don, has sent a strong message to rivals eyeing the 2027 Nairobi senatorial seat.
In a video shared on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, KRG said he is ready to enter active politics and warned competitors to brace for a tough contest.
The flamboyant businessman argued that Nairobi voters are no longer interested in old village politics, insisting the capital demands smart, bold and financially stable leadership.
“Get ready; we are about to start active politics. Wapinzani wangu wote wenye wanataka kiti ya Senator ya Nairobi, naona wanaendelea kukuja one by one. Wanakuja kwa uwanja, njoni wengi na mkuje kama mumejianda, kwa sababu Nairobi haitaki akili ya zamani na haitaki ukuje na akili ya village hii, Nairobi,” KRG stated.
“Nairobi inataka akili ya ujanja, akili ya wajanja, na pia Nairobi haitaki ikuje na njaa. Mjipange. Nairobi inataka bossy, kwa hivyo mtafute pesa nyingi sana kwa sababu Nairobi hakuna mtu atakuchangua kwa sababu unaongea nonsense mingi na kuchase clout.”
Party sponsorship
KRG further told aspirants not to rely on political parties for sponsorship.
“Mtafute pake nyinyi wote wenye mtafuta kiti ya senate Nairobi kwa sababu hakuna kubebwa na chama. Mimi naona watu wengi wanataka kujialign mnapiga hesabu, ‘ooh nitaingia kwa chama ya mtu fulani ili wanisponsor hapa.’ Tafuta yako tuambie wewe kama mwanasiasa umejipanga kivipi tuonyeshe yako wacha kusema utabebwa na chama,” he added.
He challenged fellow aspirants to fund their own campaigns instead of depending on friends and supporters for contributions.
“Sahizi mambo ya kubebwa na chama ni siasa ya zamani imeisha; sahizi ni wewe mwanasiasa upige kampeni yako from your own pocket na usisumbue marafiki wakusaidie kuchanga,” KRG stated.
KRG also revealed that he has been silent while organising his finances and strategy ahead of the race.
“Mimi nimekuwa kimya nikipanga mambo yangu ya accounts. Mujipange vizuri nyinyi wenye mnataka kiti ya senate Nairobi, 2027 senator ni mmoja nani bughaa,” he noted.
Nairobi senatorial 2027 race
The 2027 Nairobi senatorial race is already shaping up to be a high-stakes contest, with several high-profile candidates declaring interest and political alignments slowly taking shape. KRG’s bold entry is expected to shake up the race as he positions himself as a self-made contender ready to challenge the establishment.
Among those who have publicly declared interest in unseating the current Nairobi Senator are content creator Jaymo Ule Msee and political commentator Cassypool, further intensifying the battle for the capital’s top legislative seat.
With only one candidate set to clinch the position in 2027, Nairobi is bracing for what could turn out to be a fierce and closely watched political showdown.
