Rapper King Kaka has opened up about the challenges he faced while transitioning from his former stage name Rabbit, describing the move as difficult but necessary for his growth.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, 14, 2026, the artiste explained that the name Rabbit had deep personal roots, tracing back to his childhood.

He revealed that he used to sell rabbits while still in nursery school, a hustle that earned him the nickname “Sunguchi,” inspired by a character in a book known for being clever and sharp.

From music to boardrooms

Over time, the name stuck, eventually evolving into Rabbit when he joined the music scene. However, as his career progressed, he began to realise that the brand no longer aligned with his long-term vision.

The rapper said the turning point came when he started thinking beyond performances and into business. While music shows provided income, he saw greater opportunities in corporate spaces, which required a different kind of image and presentation.

“I asked myself, where is the real money? Stage has money, but the boardroom has more,” he said, explaining the mindset behind the rebrand.

He noted that corporate environments are sensitive to image and branding, and he needed a persona that could comfortably operate in those spaces.

This led to the creation of King Kaka, a name he says was intentionally built to reflect professionalism, confidence, and business awareness.

The transition, however, was not easy. He acknowledged that changing a name as an artist comes with risks, including losing recognition and confusing audiences.

To ease the shift, he introduced the new identity gradually, at one point going by “Rabbit King Kaka” before fully dropping the former name.

Growth beyond music

According to him, the rebrand has paid off, opening doors beyond music. Today, King Kaka says much of his work involves pitching ideas, developing campaigns, and working with organisations in corporate settings.

“Monday to Friday, I’m in boardrooms. I’m pitching, I’m selling ideas,” he said, adding that his core business has expanded into selling concepts and directing campaigns.

Despite the initial struggles, he maintains that the decision was necessary to grow his brand and position himself in spaces that extend beyond entertainment.

The move, he says, has allowed him to build a two-way relationship with corporate clients, where both his brand and the businesses he works with continue to grow.
