Kenyan pastor Lumbasi reveals how he privately married Rose Muhando
By William Muthama, January 13, 2026Kenyan pastor Robert Lumbasi has revealed that he privately married Tanzanian gospel singer Rose Muhando, putting to rest months of speculation about her marital status.
Speaking during a church service, Lumbasi urged men not to approach the singer, emphasising that everything regarding their marriage had been completed.
“Wale wanaume wakanisa hili tafadhali msi approach Rose. Rose asha chukuliwa. Rose ni mbalughya,” he said, warning admirers that the singer was now taken.
Dowry paid in 2023
The pastor shared that the marriage had been in the works for some time.
“Yamekua chini ya maji lakini actually ni mambo yalianza zamani. Leo mahari ishapelekwa, kila kitu kimemalizika. Nakumbuka tukienda Tanzania 2023 for dowry,” Lumbasi revealed.
He said the process drew attention from the State House, which reportedly commented: “It is Kenya marrying Tanzania.”
Lumbasi described his feelings for Muhando, highlighting both love and admiration.
“I love this woman. I respect this woman,” he said, adding that the union was built on mutual understanding and shared faith.
He also spoke about their intention to grow together spiritually and take their ministry to new levels, emphasising their shared commitment to the church.
The pastor went further to acknowledge Tanzania and its people.
“Salimia watu wa Tanzania, muambie uko nambegu nzuri tusambazieni. Huku Kenya sio ajabu, Mungu aliwapenda akawapea nchi kubwa zote East Africa,” he said, praising the country and reflecting on the connection between the two nations.
In a separate interview in 2025, the Nibebe hitmaker revealed for the first time details about her life as a single mother and her approach to love and marriage.
She shared that, despite raising her three children independently, she remained committed to finding a partner who loves her according to biblical principles.
The singer emphasised that her dedication to God guided her choices and that she carefully considers what she wants in a partner.
