Kigoco singer Karangu Muraya has sought help from Kirinyaga leaders to bury a woman who died three years ago.

In an emotional appeal shared on his Facebook page on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the philanthropist revealed that the woman who hails from Ndia in Kirinyaga died after a hit-and-run accident in December 2023.

“I have seen so many people asking questions about why the body of Jane from Ndia constituency, Kirinyaga County, has been lying in the morgue for the last 3 years since 2023. Jane was hit by a speeding car at Ruiru kihunguro, which left her half dead; the driver ran away,” he stated.

She was taken to Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.

Family’s 3-year search

Police officers from Ruiru, where the matter was reported, unsuccessfully attempted to trace the deceased’s family, with similar efforts by the hospital also not yielding any results.

Meanwhile, her family kept on searching for her, unaware that she was dead, with her body lying at the facility’s morgue.

It was not until March 2026 that her area assistant chief visited the hospital and was coincidentally attended to by the same doctor who treated the deceased.

Upon learning that the assistant chief comes from the same area as the deceased, the doctor traced Jane’s file, and the chief immediately recognised Jane Wangari, whom the family had been searching for 3 years in vain.

The family positively identified her body, paving the way for her burial, which is set for Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Ksh 2M bill waived

Both the medical and the mortuary bills stood at over Ksh2 million, and this was waived to Ksh880,000, and eventually, the facility waived the entire bill.

“On that day, the family was informed that both the medical and morgue bills were more than 2 million. The family told the family that they can’t afford such money, the family requested a waiver, and it was waived to 880k. This evening, together with her sister and Wambui Wa Njihia, we have gone back to the hospital, and by God’s grace, the hospital has agreed to waive the whole bill,” he stated.

With the bill waived, the philanthropist has shared an appeal for any leader from Kirinyaga to support the family in giving their loved one her final sendoff.

“Do we have leaders from Kirinyaga County who can help us lay Jane to rest on Thursday? Please tag them ama niingie live na sister yake tushughulikie hii mambo?” he asked on social media on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
