Jamal Gaddafi has reaffirmed his loyalty to Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino.

In a statement on his social media platforms on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the journalist confirmed his political stand.

He noted that he has always been on the same side as Sifuna, who held a huge rally in Kitengela on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

“In the beginning,g there was Edwin Sifuna, and Sifuna was with us… and Sifuna was us,” Gaddafi stated.

The journalist who was among politicians in the Linda Mwananchi rally in Kitengela hailed the initiative as a movement, confirming that he would attend the next event in Kakamega.

“Linda Mwananch ni movement. TUPATANE KACH. JiungeNaBabu,” he added.

New political movement gathers momentum after Kitengela rally

The divisions in the Orange Democratic Movement took yet another turn on Sunday, February 15, 2026, with the Oburu Odinga-led camp holding a rally in Tononoka and the rival faction led by Sifuna camping in Kitengela.

The rally saw a powerful movement, led by firebrand politicians opposed to Ruto’s second-term bid, take shape, backed by Kenyans in their thousands who attended the rally.

Police lobbed teargas cannisters into the crowd, disrupting the rally, but by then, the firebrand politicians had made their stand known.

One person was killed in the chaos, with the opposition, the civil society and the church faulting the state for not reigning in on rogue police officers and cracking down on political dissent with brutal force.

“It has now been confirmed that one person lost their life in Kitengela yesterday. The Police shot and killed 28-year-old Vincent Ayomo. This is another senseless and needless killing by Ruto’s regime. We send our condolences to Vincent’s family and demand justice and accountability. This is exactly what we are fighting against,” Edwin Sifuna stated on February 16, 2026.

Sifuna, Orengo and Babu head to Kakamega

Buoyed by the success of a huge rally in Kitengela, the Linda Mwananchi brigade moves to Kakamega this weekend, with a rally in Kakamega on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Babu Owino, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka and his Nyamira Counterpart Okong’o Omogeni, are among those set to address the rally.
