I’m naturally polygamous– Peter Salasya speaks on plans to marry several wives

Peter Salasya has again spoken openly about his plans to marry several wives, saying one of his friends from Madagascar has already promised to help him find a bride from the island nation.

The Mumias East MP said he intends to begin marrying once he settles down, maintaining that polygamy comes naturally to him as a man from the Wanga Kingdom.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, March 11, 2026, Salasya explained that he has friends who are already trying to connect him with potential partners. One of them is a friend from Madagascar who has promised to give him a wife from his country.

According to the MP, people from Madagascar share Bantu roots and speak Malagasy, a language he described as sounding like a mixture of Swahili.

Salasya also mentioned another friend he studied with at Egerton University. The friend, a doctor from Garissa, once joined him during a medical camp at Shianda KMTC.

“One we schooled with him in Egerton, he is called Dr Romio from Garisa. He was in my medical camp at Shianda KMTC. The next he is from Madagascar, and he has promised me he will give me a wife from his country, Madagascar. They are Bantus, they speak the Malagasy language like mixed Swahili because I am a polygamous man, naturally from the Wanga kingdom, immediately I start to marry my wives,” Salasya shared.

The outspoken legislator has repeatedly said he plans to practise polygamy and eventually build a large family. He often links the idea to cultural traditions in the Wanga community.

Despite his growing popularity in politics, Salasya has remained unmarried. The youthful MP has previously admitted that his search for a life partner has not been smooth.

In earlier interviews, he revealed that a relationship he once had ended after he lost his first parliamentary bid in 2017. The breakup, he said, came at a difficult time and left him reflecting on the kind of partner he would want in future.

Since entering Parliament in 2022, Salasya has continued to speak about his desire to settle down. At one point, he even publicly asked Ida Odinga, Raila Odinga’s wife, to help him find a good wife.

The MP has previously said his ideal partner should be prayerful, supportive of his political career and comfortable living in the village where he spends much of his time serving constituents.

He has also shared his vision for family life, saying he hopes to marry up to three wives and have them live together under one roof as one family.
