Governor Lusaka dons uniform, relives school days in smooth dance with students
By Paulette Mboga, June 2, 2026Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka returned to his former school, Kibabii High School, and embraced the spirit of his school days during an alumni event.
Lusaka was seen wearing a blue shirt, a tie and grey shorts as he joined fellow alumni and students at the school. The governor, who studied at Kibabii between 1977 and 1980, appeared to enjoy every moment of the visit.
In one video doing rounds on social media on Tuesday, May 2, 2026, Lusaka was seen walking out of a building dressed in the school uniform. The person recording the clip jokingly questioned him about arriving late for school. Lusaka quickly joined in the playful exchange as he responded with a humorous answer.
“Niliambiwa nipeleke ngombe mtoni kwanza,” Governor Kenneth Lusaka said.
The light-hearted moment continued as he was jokingly instructed to run to class. Lusaka then attempted to do exactly that, drawing laughter. While the sprint may not have been as fast as that of a teenager, the governor appeared determined to play along with the joke.

His appearance in the school uniform brought back memories of his years at Kibabii. The visit formed part of an alumni gathering that reunited former students with their old school. Lusaka’s choice to fully embrace the occasion added a fun touch to the event.
Back to school memories
In another video, the governor joined students in a dance session at the school. The group danced to Waah by Diamond Platnumz, with Lusaka keeping up with the rhythm throughout the clip.
Although some of the dance moves appeared challenging, he remained on his feet and continued dancing from start to finish.

The 21-second video showed him enjoying the music alongside the students. Rather than standing on the sidelines, he chose to take part in the activity. His willingness to join in made the moment stand out during the alumni event.
Lusaka’s visit was more than just a return to familiar grounds. It was also a chance to reconnect with memories from his school years and celebrate the institution that helped shape part of his journey.
It is not every day that members of the political class are seen outside official meetings, offices and formal events. Moments like these offer a different picture of leaders, away from suits, ties and packed schedules, and… a lot of other things.
Seeing a governor revisit his school days, wear shorts again and attempt a few dance moves can be refreshing. It reminds people that leaders also have personal memories and experiences that connect them to ordinary life.
