Brace with death

The anniversary comes just weeks after Sarah K recounted a chilling near-death experience after a trailer nearly rammed into the van she was travelling in along the notorious Kikopey black spot on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Speaking when she headlined the Thiigua mega crusade on Thursday, March 19, 2026, the singer explained that the incident occurred a few days after they had attended a mission at CITAM Church in Nakuru.

According to her, they were heading back in a van when they reached the hilly stretch at Kikopey, a section of the road known for its multiple lanes and heavy traffic flow.

“A few days ago, we were coming back from a mission at CITAM Church in Nakuru. On our way back, we were in our van, and when we got to Kikopey, you know that place from Nakuru, there is usually a hill there,” she said.

She recalled that the road at that point had three lanes, with two designated for vehicles heading uphill and one for those descending. Their van, she said, was climbing the hill and positioned in the right lane among the two uphill lanes, moving steadily as traffic built up on the opposite side.

“That hill has three lanes, with two lanes for those going up and one lane for those coming down. We were going up and were in the right lane. On the opposite side, the lane going down had crazy traffic,” Sarah said.

Sarah K noted that the lane for vehicles descending the hill was heavily congested, creating a tense situation.

In what she described as a dangerous and reckless move, a van from the downhill lane suddenly attempted to overtake by veering into their lane.

Moments later, a trailer that had been behind that van followed suit, also entering their lane in an attempt to overtake.

“At that moment, a van from that lane tried to overtake using our lane. After it left its lane and came into ours to overtake, a trailer that was behind it, also going down, followed and came into our lane to overtake as well. The smaller vehicle managed to overtake successfully, but we were left facing the trailer, and it was coming directly at us. We started getting tense because it was in our lane, coming down, while we were going up,” she said.
