Gospel singer Joy Wa Janet clears the air after being dragged into YouTube couple’s split

Kikuyu gospel singer Joy Wa Janet has issued a formal statement to clarify her non-involvement in a circulating online story about the breakup of a popular social media couple.
In a press release dated Thursday, December 18, 2025, the singer revealed that while her name was not mentioned in the viral story, members of the public assumed that she was the gospel artiste being referenced.
This led to widespread tagging of her social media accounts and speculation regarding her alleged involvement.
“I, Joy Janet, wish to clarify a circulating story and a few statements that were made in a recent interview. While I was not mentioned by name, some members of the public have assumed that the story referred to me and i have been tagged in relation to it,” the statement read in part.

Joy said she is grateful for those who reached out to her, but she emphasised that the circulating story does not concern her.
She clarified that the individual described in the story, a gospel artiste from Nakuru who was a brand ambassador for a land company, is not her.
She stated that she is not a brand ambassador for any company, and her professional engagements are limited to her own ventures.
“I am grateful to everyone who brought this to my attention and for the concern shown. For clarity and the avoidance of doubt, I was not involved in the story, and the gospel artist referenced is not me. According to the information that has been shared with me, the individual mentioned in the circulating account was described as a gospel artist from Nakuru and a brand ambassador for a land company. This description does not apply to me. I am not a brand ambassador for any company. My professional engagements are limited to my businesses, Jojan Designs and Jojan College of Fashion and Design,” she said in the presser.
Wa Janet also addressed claims that the gospel artiste had been a close friend of the family referenced in the story and had sent gifts to them.
She categorically denied this, stating that her interactions with the family had only occurred in public events, and she had never sent gifts or had a personal friendship with them.
“It was further mentioned that the gospel artist was a close friend to the family and that she used to send gifts to them. I wish to clearly state that I have never been a close friend to the family mentioned. Our interactions have only been during public events, just as I meet many other people, and I have never sent gifts to their home,” she added.
Additionally, she clarified her background, noting that while she is a gospel artiste, she grew up in Thika, not Nakuru, making the claims geographically inaccurate.
The singer said these clarifications were necessary to ensure accuracy and to prevent the continued spread of misinformation.
“While I am a gospel artist, I grew up in Thika, not Nakuru. This clarification is important to ensure accuracy and to prevent the continued spread of misinformation,” she added.
