Family announces date and venue for DJ Krowbar’s wife’s burial
By Valerian Khakayi, January 31, 2026The family of Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, the late wife of award-winning gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has announced the date and venue for her burial.
In a poster announcement shared by DJ Krowbar on his official social media pages on Friday, January 30, 2026, it was disclosed that Joyce’s memorial service is set for Nairobi Chapel, Ngong Road, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am.
The funeral service and burial will take place in Nars Moru, Nyeri, on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
“Memorial Service, Nairobi Chapel, Ngong Road, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 10:00am,” the poster reads.
“Funeral Service & Interment : Naro Moru, Nyeri, Thursday, February 5, 2026.”

Fundraising
The update follows DJ Krowbar’s announcement of a fundraising event to give his late wife a befitting send-off.
In a heartfelt announcement shared on his official Instagram account on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Krowbar said that the fundraising event is scheduled for Friday, January 30, at 5 pm at St Thomas Hall, All Saints Cathedral.
He also invited those who would like to contribute financially or in kind to attend and support the event.

“For those who would like to support financially or in kind, we have a fundraising event tomorrow, Friday, January 30, at 5pm at St Thomas Hall, All Saints Cathedral,” Krowbar announced.
“Joy Wa Karosh, Farewell, Paybill: 4815005 and Account: Your name.”
In addition, DJ Krowbar expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
“Thank you for your prayers and support during this season. We truly feel the love!” he expressed gratitude.
Joyce’s death
Joyce died on Monday, January 26, 2026, after a long battle with kidney-related complications.
“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Mrs Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, beloved wife to renowned Gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar. Affectionately known to many as Joy, she was called home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Monday, January 26th, 2026, at 3 a.m.,” Krowbar’s statement read.
Joyce underwent a kidney transplant in mid-2025 and faced complications, including recent medical challenges that led to her hospital readmission shortly after a brief stay at home.
