Eric Omondi celebrates progress of boy who spent 7 years in cage before rescue

Eric Omondi has celebrated the progress of a boy he rescued in Meru after spending part of his life in a cage.

In a statement posted on his social media profiles on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the comedian noted that the minor was progressing well after being attended to by professionals.

He celebrated the progress with a video which showed the minor’s progress as he walked a few steps.

The philanthropist also acknowledged well-wishers who heeded his call and contributed generously towards the initiative.

Intervention and plans for the family

Omondi intervened on January 27, 2026, after the minor’s plight went viral, travelling to Meru from where he shared a video of his interaction with the minor and his caregivers, revealing the next course of action.

“Finally, we managed to rescue our boy Mwiti from Nkubu Meru. We are going to take him for medical assessment, treatment, and therapy,” Omondi stated.

The philanthropist has been transforming lives across the country with life-changing interventions.

Eric Omondi’s walk of love

He recently announced plans to walk from Nairobi to Mombasa, arriving in the coastal city on Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2026.

The journey will see him cover a distance of 486 kilometres.

Dubbed the walk of love, Omondi will take the daring journey on foot to raise funds for the construction of a help and rescue centre.

“On February 10, 2026, I will be walking from Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium to Mama Ngina (Waterfront Park). I will be covering a distance of 486 kilometres. And remember this is a walk of love because we are doing this during Valentine’s,” Omondi explained in a video posted on his social media platforms on Monday, February 2, 2026.
