Eric Omondi appears at Lang’ata single mothers’ homes, cooks and stays overnight
By Steve Ireri, December 15, 2025Comedian and activist Eric Omondi has shared a heartwarming video documenting his visit to Mugumoini in Lang’ata, where he surprised single mothers by appearing unannounced at their doorsteps and spending the night with them as part of his community outreach efforts.
In the video posted on his Instagram on Monday, December 15, 2025, Omondi is seen arriving at the modest homes of two single mothers, where he was warmly welcomed before joining them in preparing an evening meal together.
The footage shows the comedian taking part in the cooking process, chopping onions as one of the mothers prepared vegetables, before he went on to cook ugali for the family.
The group later shared the simple meal together, with Omondi describing the moment as an opportunity to listen, learn and connect with ordinary Kenyans away from formal settings.
According to the video, the visit was not a brief stop, as Omondi spent the night at the home and was still there the following morning.
Powerful political message
Reflecting on the experience, Omondi said he deliberately chose to spend time with single mothers in the community to better understand their daily struggles and challenges.
“Spent the night in Mugumoini in Langata yesterday. Managed to visit and share meals with two single mothers,” he wrote.

He noted that listening closely to mothers and grassroots communities was essential for meaningful change in the country.
“If we listen keenly and closely, especially to our mothers, a new dawn will arise and a new Kenya is possible,” Omondi wrote in his post.
Lang’ata MP’s advise
The development comes just days after current Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, advised the comedian to consider joining active politics by contesting for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat.
In a post shared on his social media pages on Monday, November 3, 2025, Jalang’o thanked the people of Lang’ata for trusting him with their support and used the opportunity to encourage Omondi to step into politics.
Jalang’o acknowledged that Eric Omondi enjoys a significant following in Lang’ata, and he made it clear that he intends to engage with the comedian to convince those supporters to join his camp ahead of the 2027 polls.
“When people have confidence in what you do!! I thank the people of Langata for trusting me with this job! Siasa kidogo kazi kwa wingi!!! @ericomondi nipigie tuongee uniwachie hii mbogi yako, enda usimame Embakasii East, Babu anatoka anapanda juu!” Jalang’o wrote.
