DNA results finally settle mystery of woman claiming to be Bahati’s mother

The results of the DNA test involving musician Bahati and the woman claiming to be his biological mother, Judith Makokha, have been released, putting an end to months of speculation.

Bahati shared the details in a YouTube video on Monday, March 9, 2026, explaining the testing process and outcome. He visited the hospital two weeks after taking the test to receive the results and provide clarity to the public.

Medical doctor David Mwithiga, who conducted the DNA analysis, confirmed that the woman is not biologically related to Bahati. The test examined more than 25 genetic markers, including sex chromosomes, which are critical in determining parentage.

“Kevin Bahati has XY chromosomes, and Judith Makokha has XX chromosomes,” Mwithiga explained. “After reviewing all parameters, the DNA clearly shows there is no match, indicating that Judith Makokha is his biological mother.”

In the same video, the woman claiming to be his mother was seen overwhelmed with emotion, crying as she repeatedly asked, “Where is my son?”

Contrary to public perception, Bahati revealed that he had been aware of the woman’s claim for five years. He initially ignored a direct message from her daughter on Facebook, but only decided to take the matter seriously after a YouTuber brought it to public attention, prompting him to engage directly and proceed with the DNA test.

Earlier bahati had appealed for prayers, admitting that it has not been easy.

“Of course, I will be very glad. Glad because hakuna msee hataki mamake akuwe hai ,” he said, adding that “In my life, none of my parents has seen me struggle, and none of them has seen my success.”

Bahati: It all started as a joke

The singer shared that the whole saga began as a joke when the woman surfaced claiming to be his mother despite the fact that he grew up in a children’s home and believed that his mother was dead.

“Hii kitu ilianza kama jokes,” Bahati said, adding that he has grown knowing that he is an orphan, having seen his mother pass on at a young age.

“I know my mum, and I saw her when she passed on, even though I was young. I have grown for 33 years knowing that I am an orphan,” he added as he prepared for any eventuality..
