Diamond Platnumz surprises villagers with money gifts to mark Valentine’s season
By Steve Ireri, February 16, 2026Bongo Flava superstar Diamond Platnumz has warmed hearts across Tanzania after spending part of his Valentine’s season moving through rural villages and gifting elderly people cash in surprise visits.
The ‘Komosava’ hitmaker distributed Tsh200,000 (approximately Ksh10,000) to each beneficiary, neatly packaged inside gift boxes.
The unexpected gestures left many emotional, with several recipients visibly overwhelmed by the act of kindness.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Diamond is seen riding through different villages with a small team, stopping at random homes to surprise elderly women he encountered along the way, particularly those who appeared to be in need of support.
The recipients reacted with shock and gratitude, with some hugging him tightly while others immediately broke into prayers at the scene.

To avoid drawing attention and spoiling the surprise, the singer dressed casually in a simple jumper and slippers.
He also avoided using his well-known luxury cars, opting instead for a more discreet approach to prevent attracting crowds before completing the visits.
While speaking about the initiative, Diamond explained that although Valentine’s season is often associated with romantic celebrations and various activities, he had chosen to mark the occasion differently this year.
He said he decided to celebrate the season by visiting people quietly and unexpectedly, without informing them in advance, and blessing them with gifts.
“This is Valentine’s season, and despite everything, I decided to celebrate it differently this year by visiting different people without them knowing in advance and giving them gifts. Inside each box is TSh200,000, and every person will receive their share,” he said.
He disclosed that each gift box contained Tsh200,000, adding that every person he visited would receive their own share of the amount.
The singer further noted that he was accompanied by a small team, including Ricardo Momo, and emphasised that he deliberately avoided using his personal branded vehicles because they are widely recognised.
“On this trip, I am accompanied by my team, including Ricardo Momo. I also chose not to use my own cars because people recognise them, and I didn’t want the surprise to be spoilt,” he added.
