Zari Hassan opens up about realities of being over 40
By Valerian Khakayi, July 6, 2026Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has shared a candid reflection on life after 40, saying people of the same age often find themselves on completely different life paths.
In a post on social media shared on Monday, July 6, 2026, Zari observed that reaching one’s 40s comes with the realisation that there is no universal timeline for success, family or personal milestones.
“Being 40+ is weird; everyone your age is on a completely different timeline,” Zari said.
The mother of five noted that while some people in their 40s are already grandparents, others are still raising young children or navigating new relationships.

Zari also pointed out how differently people age, joking that some look decades younger while others appear to have endured life’s toughest challenges.
“Some are grandparents, some are changing nappies at 3AM, some are dating 20-year-olds, and some are celebrating 20 years of marriage,” she added.
“Half look 28; the other half look like they survived a war.”
Despite the different life journeys, the reality TV star revealed that her personal goal is not to compete with anyone else’s timeline but to prioritise her health and well-being as she grows older.
“Meanwhile, I’m just trying to become one of those suspiciously healthy older people,” she said.
Zari, who has built a successful career in business and entertainment, frequently uses her social media platforms to share insights about relationships, parenting, personal growth and the realities of ageing.

Life after 40
Life after 40 is a reminder that everyone moves at their own pace. While some people are celebrating decades of marriage or becoming grandparents, others are raising young children, starting new relationships or pursuing fresh career opportunities.
There is no single timeline that defines success.
This stage of life also encourages many people to focus less on comparing themselves with others and more on their health, happiness and personal growth. Priorities often shift toward maintaining physical and mental well-being while embracing the lessons that come with experience.
Ultimately, being over 40 is about accepting that every journey is unique. Rather than measuring life by age or milestones, many choose to celebrate their own progress and focus on living a healthier, more fulfilling life.
